The proposed project will provide 18 residential units tailored towards workforce and moderate income individuals. A number of the units will be dedicated affordable housing.
With spaces ranging from 500 - 1,800 SF the retail component is tailored toward local & small businesses. The site plan invites pedestrians and cyclists to gather in the public park area and frequent the local businesses.
Currently the site is a commercial parking lot, much of which is within the 100 foot buffer zone of a wetland. In order to improve the condition of the wetland buffer zone, the new plan will reduce the impervious areas in the wetland buffer zone and treat all stormwater runoff.
The existing use of the site is a commercial parking lot. The applicants are proposing to change the use to a mixed use residential and retail development the entire community can enjoy. The site is located across from beautiful Depot Square Park and benefits from being close to the center of town, public transportation, walking and biking trails, and Bedford town hall, library, middle school, high school and fields.
